Our client a registered Investment Society is seeking a highly qualified ICT Assistant Officer.

Job Location: Nairobi, Kenya

Salary: Kes. 30,000-60,000

Contract period: 3 years

Overall Purpose

Reporting to the ICT Officer, the ICT Assistant Officer is responsible for maintaining and optimizing the organization’s IT infrastructure to ensure secure, reliable, and efficient operations. This role involves managing hardware, software, networks, and security systems, ensuring smooth day-to-day IT operations, and providing support to end users.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design, install, configure, and upgrade IT systems and servers to meet the organization’s needs.
  • Operate and maintain system hardware and software, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
  • Administer and maintain network operating systems, ensuring system efficiency and security.
  • Maintain, upgrade, and administer operating and desktop applications in accordance with approved procedures and policies.
  • Provide timely technical support, troubleshoot issues, train users, document system procedures, and improve data flow and system reliability.
  • Ensure that all end users receive prompt and satisfactory IT support services.
  • Oversee the administration and upgrade of internet services to ensure optimal browsing experiences.
  • Maintain, upgrade, and administer antivirus software to safeguard the organization’s network from viruses and other threats.
  • Implement programs and policies to ensure the integrity and security of ICT systems.
  • Design and implement efficient preventive maintenance schedules for servers and personal computer equipment.
  • Maintain an up-to-date inventory of personal computer equipment, ensuring all hardware is accounted for.
  • Research and recommend new IT solutions, upgrades, and developments to improve desktop support and system functionality.
  • Prepare technical specifications and participate in evaluations for the procurement of software and hardware equipment.
  • Undertake daily backup operations, perform routine system audits, and evaluate and modify systems performance to ensure data integrity and reliability.

Academic and Professional Qualifications

  • Diploma in Information Technology (IT), Computer Science, or a related ICT qualification from a recognized institution.
  • Professional Certifications in Design, Software System Architecture, Programming, Networking, or other related ICT fields are an added advantage.

Work Experience

  • At least Five (5) years of experience as an ICT Assistant Officer in a relevant and fast-paced environment.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Proficient in system design, installation, and maintenance, including upgrading servers and troubleshooting technical issues.
  • Strong knowledge of network security principles, antivirus management, and data backup processes.
  • Experience in upgrading and maintaining software applications, ensuring smooth operations.
  • Ability to manage IT inventories, track procurement processes, and stay updated on emerging technologies.
  • Strong skills in documentation, reporting, and ensuring compliance with internal procedures and policies.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with team members and end users.
