Our client, a Staff Defined Contribution Pension Scheme is undergoing a transformation to streamline its operations in order to realize its envisioned growth and efficiency in service delivery to its members and stakeholders. In consideration of the intended growth, the Scheme wishes to recruit a qualified individual to take up the position of CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER.
ROLE SUMMARY
Reporting to the Board of Trustees, the Chief Executive Officer is the Internal Administrator and Accounting Officer of the Scheme and will provide strategic leadership in the day-to- day operations of the Scheme. The Chief Executive Officer has the overall responsibility for developing and implementing the Strategic Plan, as well as the effective management of resources towards the achievement of the Scheme’s Mandate, Vision, Values and Objectives.
The successful candidate shall be engaged on a three (3) year contract, renewable subject to satisfactory performance.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The job will entail the following responsibilities:
- Provide strategic leadership in accordance with the mandate of Scheme as stipulated in the Retirement Benefits Act, Regulations, Trust Deed and Rules and/or any other enabling Legislation.
- Efficient and prudent management of funds and property of the Scheme in line with the policies, procedures, and best practice.
- Develop strategies and business proposals for a conducive environment for members and stakeholders and recommend the same to the Board of Trustees for approval.
- Implement policies, programs, activities and projects of the Scheme as approved by the Board of Trustees.
- Foster Strategic partnerships with Stakeholders of the Scheme.
- Promote a positive image of the Scheme.
- Effective enterprise risk management through development and implementation of effective and efficient internal control systems that ensure business continuity.
- Ensure effective communication between the Stakeholders and the Board of Trustees.
- Maintain a conducive work environment to attract, retain and motivate employees and foster a corporate culture that promotes ethical practices and good corporate citizenship.
- Facilitate preparation of budgets, annual plans and Scheme policies for discussion by the Board of Trustees and promptly implement decisions and resolutions of the Board of Trustees.
- Compliance with relevant Laws, Regulations, Guidelines and Circulars issued from time to time by the stakeholders.
- Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Board of Trustee.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Be a Kenyan Citizen.
- First Degree from a reputable accredited University in economics, finance, law, actuarial science, mathematics, commerce, social sciences.
- Master’s Degree in economics, business, finance, law, actuarial science, mathematics, commerce, social sciences.
- Relevant professional qualification and membership to a professional body, in good standing, where applicable.
- At least fifteen (15) years’ work experience, ten (10) years of which must be at a senior management level in Scheme Administration.
